[Latest News] OpenAI hires OpenClaw AI agent tool's creator
OpenAI has hired the Austrian creator of OpenClaw, a viral artificial intelligence tool able to execute real-world tasks, according to CEO Sam Altman.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally transforming the global energy landscape, helping to accelerate the shift toward sustainable, low-carbon power while optimizing production and enhancing sector-wide efficiency.
At the heart of this transformation is the ADIPEC 2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, a major gathering of the traditional energy industry and cutting-edge smart technology. The event underscored the growing role of AI in increasing energy security and boosting operational performance.

According to reports from Middle Eastern economic media, ADIPEC 2025 saw record-breaking activity, including 35,000 collaboration deals worth up to US$46 billion, a four-fold increase compared to the previous year. The exhibition drew nearly 240,000 visitors, up 17% year over year, representing energy giants, technology leaders, financial institutions, and policymakers.

Experts note a dual-sided nature in how AI is impacting energy demand. While AI applications will likely raise energy consumption, they can also dramatically improve efficiency and output. Over time, AI systems themselves are expected to become more energy-efficient, reducing costs and environmental impact.
The real value of AI in the energy industry lies not so much in generating new content (as with generative AI), but in analytical AI - especially AI with reasoning capabilities that can understand, interact, and control real-world systems. A standout example from ADIPEC: the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced a partnership with SLB (Schlumberger) to deploy AI-based optimization across eight offshore oil fields. Their goal is to improve production and enable remote, autonomous operations via drones or robots — freeing up human labor for safer, more value-added tasks.
Overall, the integration of AI, energy, and investment at ADIPEC reflects a global, cross-industry push: one that sees intelligent technology not as an optional add-on, but a core enabler of sustainable energy transformation.

The ADIPEC Technical Conference is where global expertise meets innovation, showcasing the technologies, insights and engineering excellence shaping the future of energy.
From enhanced performance to smarter systems, this is where technical minds come together to drive practical progress across the energy value chain.
